oh my god, i'm so bored. i've been here at work for about an hour now and so far all i've done is log into my computer. so i've been checking my email for the last hour. now i'm writing a xanga post. it's been a while.
finally got my new north carolina driver's license. i'm official. my picture makes me look like a serial killer. i might attach it when i get home if i feel like it. it's a little scary.
and i'm a little worried: the word "y'all" is trying to worm its way into my vocabulary. already. it hasn't even been a month yet. but i've noticed that people treat you better if you affect an accent.
oh, and i've been on something like six dates since saturday. the seventh is tonight. i made lasagna. i'm excited.
i think i like the new job, though. finally all trained up and system access granted. and i still like the people.

It's nice to hear some good news! Dates? Liking your job? Y'all?! It's all good news.
I'm from Northern IL and I still say y'all. Although...I say it somewhat ironically, so...there's that.
Dates??? I'm going to assume they were all bad or just so-so because they got not more than that small mention... boo... but at least you are getting out there, meeting some people, building a life. I'm so glad you like your job! And since you are writing a blog at work, I'd say it's slowed down some and you arent' there until 6pm every night?
Y'all... it is like a fungus, isn't it? My Monkey is from Boston. I'm Oklahoma. So I get razzed constantly for different words... Y'all is one, but not so much because I try to avoid it. He picks more on cement, guitar and more recently hotel.... I say SEE-mint (or I did regular, not I try to fix it to ce-MENT), git-tar (he says gu-TAR) and apparently I accent the HO in hotel.
I tried explaining that most people in redneckville, Oklahoma don't even know there is a difference in motel and hotel, and I do, so I accent it to show how smart I am... he still makes fun. LOL.
Glad you're enjoying your new home!
Hooray! An update. Is that dates with 6 different people? Or six dates with the same one. The information is vital to this story.
It sounds like things are working out really nicely for you in NC. I'm glad to hear it.
@impossibleangles - 'Greed.
@Viewtiful_Justin - the couple times i've said it i was immediately horrified. lol. one of the girls i work with started laughing because apparently she went through the same thing. "it IS so much easier, though," she reasoned.
@BubblysLife - some were good, some were so-so, but at the very least i'm making acquaintances. and yes, things at work are becoming a little more even, but i still don't get back into raleigh until after six. it's an 8 to 5 job, but one hell of a commute. and the accent is very funny to me still, but i'm getting used to it.
@SoapAndShampoo & @christao408 - thanks!
@impossibleangles & @Grtt - well it's seven dates now, five different people.
@mercurialmusic - So... as sometimes happens in the late of night, my mind was working and I realized I had no idea what your screen name meant.. .LOL.. so I used my amazing skills of...internet... and found out. I've learned a new word that describes me at so many moments in my life!!!! LOVE IT. Just thought I'd let you know, many hillbillies will be confused by my new usage of this word... like they were when I learned the word "Plethora". LOL. My best friend still giggles when I use that one...wait til I spring "mercurial" on her!!!
@BubblysLife - hehe. glad to hear it! honestly, i don't think i ever really use it in normal conversation, but it's not a bad word for me. you'll have to let me know how your friend reacts.
